Chancellor’s Investiture
In 2023 I was tasked with creating myriad materials for the Chancellor’s Investiture Ceremony as well as branding and templates for a weeklong series of events.

Calculation is a silo section inside of On Wisconsin Magazine. My brain enjoys problem solving and these are always a big puzzle. Below are most of my favorites throughout the years.
As art director, I have the opportunity to work with our great team of in-house designers and photographers, as well as freelancers from across the world. Below are some of our most memorable projects. “UW–Madison in the Year 2198” is a two-page, full-bleed, centerfold illustration created for On Wisconsin magazine’s “Future Issue.” The issue marked […]
On Wisconsin Magazine has been the project that has fueled my soul for almost a decade now. I’ve worked on 35 issues over the past nine years—16 as art director. I take great pride in my role, overseeing the design and layout for each issue. As the magazine is a collaborative effort between University Marketing, […]
In my role at UW, I’ve been asked to design numerous holiday cards. I also relish in the opportunity to make my own each year. Being your own client is refreshing but still very much a challenge.
An annual project I look forward to each year is the student planner funded by the Center for First Year Experience. The student planner is given to every new student and sold at the Bookstore for anyone to purchase. It’s fun to think outside the box and have a little more fun with the design […]
This CRSPR illustration is a perfect example of why I love working in higher education. In order to be a great designer, we have to understand every detail about a topic so that we can make it make sense to the audience or viewer. Every project I work on is an opportunity to learn something […]
On Wisconsin utilizes spot illustrations to help provide more visual interest to a news story or subject when photography isn’t easy or when the subject matter is abstract. They can also add humor or whimsy to the content. These are typically created in-house and are one of my favorite additions to a page or spread. […]
The Guide’s mission is to be a centralized repository of national and local resources for the LGBTQ+ community. They hope to shed light on real experiences by curating stories submitted by the community with the hope of bettering the world and paving the way for others who have yet to begin their journey. The logo […]
As part of the University Marketing team, I’ve had the opportunity to work on some remarkable projects, including the brand redesign for UW–Madison. As part of the project team, I had major responsibilities redesigning and updating logo elements, fonts, icons, and other visual identity components used campuswide. The final product is a refreshed brand that […]
The Hamel Music Center opened in fall 2019 as the new performance and rehearsal space for the UW’s Mead Witter School of Music. University Marketing was tasked with inventing a brand for Hamel. Reminiscent of the building’s exterior (and interior) walls, this abstract mark perfectly captures the venue’s personality, eccentricities, and character.
This brand identity was created for local gym owner, Peter Kraus. The mark itself is evocative of a weight plate. This logo now lives in five gyms around the Madison area.
Double majoring allows students to explore multiple academic interests, gain a broader knowledge base, and potentially enhance their career prospects by acquiring skills and expertise in more than one field. A quarter of all US students and a third of all UW undergrads declare double majors. The Mead Witter School of Music is uniquely positioned […]
One of my first tasks as a designer at University Marketing was to create a new series of banners for the iconic Bascom Hall. I used the new brand colors and textures to modernize a previous “W” design.
